TCS has emerged as India’s best company to work for in the Business Today-Indicus Analytics annual survey. A wide variety of employee engagement initiatives has helped TCS record the lowest attrition rate in the IT sector.

Infosys
Attrition in the company is down from 17.5 per cent in the quarter ended December 2010 to 15.4 per cent in October-December 2011.

Wipro
Attrition at Wipro fell from 23.2 per cent in the middle of 2011 to 14.2 per cent before the year was out.

IBM believes that a sense of purpose drives an organisation more than money.

GOOGLE INDIA
Google India has dropped two places in the rankings. The company has the ‘breakout rooms’ – rooms where Googlers go to ‘think’.

Microsoft was ranked No. 1 in 2007 and 2008. The company encourages employees to develop skills which may have nothing to do with their work.

Accenture has taken to reverse mentoring, in which young employees teach the older ones a thing or two.

HCL Tech was not in the Top 10 last year. An employee earns points when appreciated by colleagues, which can be redeemed for goodies.

L&T is one of only two non-technology companies in the Top 10 list. The companies believes in leaders from within.
